On Saturday 26 April, one of the most ambitious and transformative urban projects in Barcelona was officially inaugurated: the new Parc de les Glòries. This great green space redefines the heart of the city and symbolises the new urban model: greener, smarter and more human.
At Grupo CUBIC, in collaboration with BIMSA — Barcelona d’Infraestructures Municipals, we have actively contributed to this project through the drafting, construction management and health and safety coordination for the deployment of the latest-generation urban fibre optic network, a key infrastructure in the development of smart cities.
Our technical contribution has focused on three fundamental areas:
Drafting of the executive project.
Construction management of the works.
Health and Safety Coordination.
The result is the deployment of an urban fibre optic network that:
Spans more than 4.5 km in length.
Connects more than 40 smart urban devices.
Enables real-time monitoring of:
Smart public lighting.
Efficient irrigation systems.
Video surveillance and security.
Essential urban services.
This network is the core technological infrastructure of a smart park, aligned with the principles of sustainability, energy efficiency and urban digitalisation.
This transformed space offers citizens:
9 hectares of public area.
30,000 m² of green zones.
More than 1,000 trees planted.
700 m² of shaded structure.
Berta Cáceres sensory plaza of 2,500 m².
Garden adapted to climate change.
Children’s area with 35 play elements.
Water park, dog area and rain gardens.
The technical work led by Grupo CUBIC at Parc de les Glòries represents a clear commitment to smart urban engineering. These types of projects consolidate a new city model:
More sustainable.
More connected.
More oriented towards citizen well-being.
At Grupo CUBIC, we continue to build infrastructure at the service of people. Our work connects the present with the future, applying solutions in sustainable engineering, urban connectivity and applied technology.
